– 500ml Water
– 3 Slices of Ginger
– 3 Slices of Turmeric
– 2 Squashed Cardamom Pods
– 3 Cloves
– A Pinch of Fennel Seeds
– Almond Milk (optional)
– Honey (optional)
– Put water in a pan. Add the ginger, turmeric, squashed cardamom pods, cloves and a pinch of fennel seeds.
– Simmer for 5-6 minutes and strain the beverage into mugs.
– Drink as it is or add almond milk and honey, if you choose.

You can tell a good brew by its texture. A clear texture means the brew is astringent and ready to serve, a muddy mixture might need sieving.

It is time to taste your tea. Remember though, even if some people find slurping a little rude, it is the most effective way to taste a tea brew. Slurps spread the brew over your taste buds and gives you an actual idea of the taste.

Since you are here, we will assume that you are a tea lover like us and want to learn the art of making the perfect cup of tea. Well, to tell you the truth, there is no one way of doing it. However we have an expert who can help us out.
Classical novelist George Orwell, yeah the guy who wrote “1984”, was a great tea lover and wrote an essay called “A nice cup of tea”. In the essay, Orwell enumerates the eleven golden rules of making the perfect cup of tea, and we are sharing the work here in its entirety.
A Nice Cup of Tea
If you look up ‘tea’ in the first cookery book that comes to hand you will probably find that it is unmentioned; or at most you will find a few lines of sketchy instructions which give no ruling on several of the most important points.
There’s a lot of confusion about how much tea should you buy. It becomes all the more difficult if you love tea and frequently find yourself out of your favourite blend. The obvious choice then is to buy a bigger pack. In fact, you can save more per gram by going for a 250 gram or 500 gram packaging.
But here is the thing about buying a larger pack, you need to store it properly to preserve the taste. Exposure to air and light takes away the richness and composure of the tea leaves, therefore, you need two air-tight containers, one large and one small. Use the larger container to store the bulk while using the smaller one for your daily tea delights.
So how long will your tea stock last?
Let’s do some quick math here. If you buy a 500 gram pack of premium tea and use a smaller container of 50 gram capacity to store the portion for your daily use, you can ideally get 16 cups of tea from it. That is if you follow the 3 gram per cup rule.
